Functional Electrical Stimulation Specialty Center
TRP offers state of the art Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) equipment which is utilized in conjunction with evidenced based treatment approaches. FES uses pulses of electrical current to stimulate peripheral nerves that evoke contractions and patterned muscle activity. FES is applied using adhesive pads placed over the muscles to be activated, and creates patterned movements in the arms, legs and trunk.
Benefits from FES include increased circulation to improve wound healing, increased bone density, improved cardiovascular health, improved range of motion, Decreased spasticity , reverse muscle atrophy, improved functional ADL’s, improved gait and improved swallowing.
Our state of the art FES equipment includes:
RT600 Stepper – Full integrated, upright FES stepper to improve your ability to bear your own weight while stepping
RT300 Arm and Leg Cycles – FES cycles for the arms and legs that can be completed from your wheelchair
Xcite –a portable multi-channel FES stimulator that allows patients to work on meaningful ADLs and movements including feeding, scooting transfers, sit-stands, and step ups.
SAGE – a FES stimulator, which creates patterns that evoke a wide range of FES functional activities and exercises
RehaMove2 – Mobile FES to be used with the Motomed UE and LE cycle or on the mat
