Stroke Rehabilitation

At The Recovery Project, we offer skilled therapy, training, and wellness programs to individuals who have experienced a stroke.

Physical, occupational, and speech therapists use a variety of interventions to improve function through a combination of recovery and compensation techniques. Therapists work to improve function through neuroplasticity using high repetitions of challenging yet meaningful tasks. Therapists utilize functional electrical stimulation, gravity minimized positioning, constraint-induced therapy, body weight supported treadmill training, mirror therapy, and a variety of other evidence-based techniques to improve function and independence. Education is provided on adaptive techniques, equipment, and bracing to improve independence and quality of life as well.

TREATMENT & PROGRAMS

The interdisciplinary team includes physical, occupational and speech therapist, along with personal trainers and massage therapists. All clinicians have advanced certifications in specialized programs helpful in treating the impairments related to CVA. We provide a lifetime continuum of care, through our medical and wellness programs. This is the optimal way to maximize function and independence for stroke survivors.
Stroke rehabilitation, at The Recovery Project, is designed to maximize neurological recovery, overall health and quality of life using evidence-based treatments.

Therapy Services

Supported Treadmill Training with LiteGait

LiteGait utilizes a harness system to safely practice ambulation overground or on the treadmill without fall risks.

Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES)

FES can improve strength and walking ability, as well as decrease fatigue and risk of falling for individuals recovering from a stroke.

Redcord Suspension Training

Redcord suspension exercises allow exercises to be completed more easily in a gravity-minimized environment. This not only helps strengthen muscles, but also enhances dynamic joint stability, muscle co-activation, and muscle synergies.

Neuro-Prosthesis

TRP has highly skilled clinicians prepared to pair you with the best prosthesis for optimal function in your affected arm(s). Therapists have completed training in the Myopro device, Saebo Flex, and Bioness H200, and can help you obtain a device for home.

Daily Living Skills Training

We work to help you participate in meaningful, functional activities, whether that be learning a new technique or trialing adaptive equipment to be able to get dressed, feed yourself, return to work, and more. We also address social skills, behavioral issues, cognitive deficits, and any other barrier that stands in the way of you achieving your goals.

VitalStim

This is an FDA-approved treatment for dysphagia utilizing neuromuscular electrical stimulation to reeducate the muscles required for swallowing food. This intervention can greatly benefit a patient’s ability to swallow foods and strengthen their vocal cords.

Vestibular Therapy and Visual Training

TRP’s vestibular rehabilitation program provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for clients who are experiencing dizziness and balance disorders.
